Federal Criminal & International Extradition Defense

Linda Friedman Ramirez, P.A., represents foreign nationals in criminal matters, including extradition and transnational crime. She has been an attorney since 1981 and is admitted to practice in the Third, Fourth, Ninth and Eleventh Circuits as well as the US Supreme Court. She is a Life Member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and a member of the European Criminal Bar Association. She regularly works with attorneys outside the United States.

Education: Ms. Ramirez has her JD from Willamette University College of Law 1981. Before law school, she earned her B.A. in International Affairs from George Washington University, 1975, and traveled throughout Central and Latin America during those years. She was employed by the Pan American Development Foundation, which is affiliated with the Organization of American States. She is fluent in Spanish.

About Ms. Ramirez

Since 1981, Ms. Ramirez has emphasized the representation of foreign nationals at the trial court and appellate level. She has represented clients in a wide range of federal and state criminal charges, including drug trafficking charges, sex offenses, immigration-related crimes, bank fraud, theft, embezzlement and other white collar crimes.

Ms. Ramirez is experienced with the particular problems faced by foreign nationals who have been arrested and advises clients as early as possible on legal procedures and possible immigration consequences.

She also provides legal advice and representation prior to a charge or indictment and advises clients who may have criminal charges pending in another jurisdiction in order to fully protect their rights.

Early consultation with Ms. Ramirez can provide valuable information on your rights and legal options, including the advisability of hiring a lawyer in the other country.

She is a Life Member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and a member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys. She has been a Consulting Attorney to the Mexican Consulate in Orlando Florida.

Linda Friedman Ramirez maintains a limited practice in order to provide each client with competent, professional and expert legal assistance.

She is the editor of the treatise, Cultural Issues in Criminal Defense, 2d. Ed., a comprehensive title that discusses topics including extradition, consular assistance, barriers to communication, the need for qualified interpreters, unique Fourth and Fifth Amendment issues, cultural defenses, the immigration consequences of a conviction, and distinctive sentencing issues.
